Lo3 report: Be able to illustrate how the legal, ethical, social and moral issues are considered within the product proposal

My idea for a product is a new music streaming services that also lets users edit their music and even create music. It will let users have full creative control over the music they listen to and how they create their own and upload it. With this, there will be many legal and ethical considerations I will need to consider when building and designing the app.

1. Legal regulatory issues

My product will feature a sharing system which would allow users to upload their own music to the app for other users to find. This will work similar to sound-cloud in which users can upload files to their profile which can then be listened to by other users. However, this can result in many different legal issues that could effect me and other users. We will have to enforce a copyright or flagging system that will takedown any copyrighted or unsafe content on the app. This will stop people from uploading content that may be against our user guidelines and make the experience safer for artists and users. Also, due to the data protection act, measurements would need to be placed so that no unwanted files would be uploaded to the app, This could cause users to be attacked by viruses and could cause personal information of our users to be leaked. To ensure this doesn't happen we will have to implement systems that monitor what is in the files that users upload to our app. This would also be added to the content creation features of our app as we plan on let users add their own files and sounds into their profile so that content creation is made easier. Under the vast majority of legislations, if you’re processing personal data you’re generally required to make disclosures related to your data processing activities via a comprehensive privacy policy, ensure that there are effective security measures in place for protecting personal data and implement methods for receiving user consent or facilitating its withdrawal. This privacy information must be up-to-date, understandable, unambiguous, and easily accessible throughout the website or app. Some component requirements may vary based on the type of processing activity, region, user age or business type. Plus, users will need to be over the age of 13 to sign up to the app, this will be because of the messaging features and user communication that could be used to the disadvantage of the user. The equality act on 2010, states that I must make my application and web variations accessible to users who may be disadvantaged and find It harder to use the app.

2. Ethical, social, and moral impacts

When proposing my idea for a new interactive media product, I will need to identify and consider the ethical social and moral impacts. One of the ethical issues surrounding my media product is the potential harassment and offensive behaviour created from users. This is a potential issues as the app will feature a comment section on each song, and a direct messaging and group messaging system. This will allow users to communicate directly, leading to the creation of content on a global scale between users. However, this may also lead to ethical issues that may effect the user Experience. Racist, homophobic, and derogatory behaviour will not be allowed on the application and we will state this on the user guidelines which must be followed. We will ban users that do not follow these rules and allow users to block and report people doing this. This is all to make a better experience for the average  user so that they we be sure to use the app again. This will similarly be enforced with content that may seem offensive; users can block and report/ flag content or users that they may find offensive, this will then be reviewed and action will be taken if the content or response feels offensive. Also, as I've already said there will be an age limit for users when they log-in to the app, similar to social media like Snapchat and Facebook.
